The doors are closed and locked,
So many secrets go untold.
A child in the dark,
Her soul, so very old.
Beaten and bruised by life’s cruel hand,
Emotionless through distrust.
No one knows the pain she hides,
Her dreams turned into dust.
No one knows the secrets
hidden behind her eyes.
in a confusion of darkness
lies are true and truth lies
Her dreams, swept away
by those who would not care.
Tears to cry. No one may see them.
If only the pain could be shared.
Shared by another child apart.
Her pain, alone, so hard to bare,
If only another child was there,
To understand and care.
Both, emotionally destroyed,
By the evils of man.
It’s easier to climb life’s ladder,
When done hand in hand.
Love blossoms in friendship,
no longer absent of light.
Two souls once barren,
Now thrive in the night.
Sharing secrets once forbidden,
The darkness now gives way.
The doors are closed and locked,
But friendship will not stray.
The doors are closed and locked.
So many secrets left to tell.
Two children in the dark.
In fear of the light, they now feel.
Sharing secrets, forbidden to be told,
though meaning nothing to others,
to the children in the dark,
In the light, the truth uncovers.
So alien to them, their love,
found in the heart of a friend
the doors are closed and locked
but youth is born again.
