Don’t believe everything you see.

In a world filled with voices loud,
There’s a battle waged on history’s stage,
Where passions clash and hearts are proud,
Amidst the chaos and the strife,
Amidst the noise of an ever-changing age.
We must seek balance in our life.
“Stop taking down the statues!” Our ancestors cry,
“Stop re-writing the narrative!” they exclaim,
“Stop banning the books!” Of truth testify,
For history holds its sacred place,
“Stop erasing history!” their voices proclaim.
A complexity entwined in time and space.
In the annals of history, imperfect is our nation’s past,
within its complexity, there’s more than one side,
tales of triumphs, though in recordings, shadows cast,
From 2023 to 1965, we read of the years of strife
and looking back beyond 1865, freedom brothers strive.
a nation torn apart, add to the dialog, life by life,
It is genuine, history’s truth is not so clear,
economics divided, brother against brother,
yet freedom holds perspectives near and dear,
In every tale, there’s a myriad of views,
the path to healing is to unite each other.
A kaleidoscope of stories we must peruse.
Yes, we were once a nation torn apart,
Diverse perspectives, though they may abound,
Sister bled with sister, heart to heart,
But healing comes when we learned to see,
Acceptance, the common ground we found,
The beauty in our commonality, our diversity.
Different we stood, united we stood,
United we stand, divided we fall,
Accepting the differences, as we should,
For in embracing the varied hues,
Let unity be our guiding call,
We found strength to heal and fuse.
But lo and behold, our foes do know,
though we sought unity to see us through.
The power of division, seeds they sow,
Promoting violence, stirring unrest,
Divide and conquer, our enemies knew,
To keep us divided, oppressed, and stressed.
BLM, a violent rally made innocent cry,
Yet violence, it bears no fruit,
Lost in the currents as time flew by,
An extremest ploy, plainly seen as political play,
And the echoes of turmoil, they still dilute,
Now the next ploy holds our sway.
Divide and conquer, their sinister game,
MAGA, Make America Great, a rallying cry,
Keeping us entertained, in turmoil, in flame,
Yet just erasing history will not suffice,
meanings shift with time, purpose passed by.
Deception won’t rewrite the truth or make it concise.
So let the statues stand tall and strong,
as new ploys emerge, as narratives twist,
history’s reminders of a journey long,
The books, the pages, let them breathe,
fight the propaganda, turmoil, lost in the mist,
allow thoughts that challenge, minds to conceive.
The battles fought, History’s messy, imperfect, it’s true,
though painful, erasing history won’t bring change,
Open the dialog, it’s how we learn, how we grow anew,
Add to the truth don’t take away the scars we bear,
erasing the past, only breeds ignorance, a future derange.
In the history books are lessons to guide us, make us aware.
Fight the narrative that seeks to divide,
Re-writing history won’t serve us well,
Add more to the narrative, tell each side,
For in unity lies our greatest might,
In history’s imperfection, truths can still dwell.
A beacon of hope, open dialog, a guiding light.
Let’s not tear down what we cannot replace,
So let not statues crumble to dust,
Let’s not burn the books, leaving no trace,
Let’s not rewrite our shared history,
Using history to guide the future is a must,
learn from it, question it, embrace the mystery.
For a nation that forgets its past,
Fails to embrace the lessons history imparts,
We will be destined to repeat it, alas,
So let us stand united, one and all,
build a future where love conquers hearts.
Embracing our differences, breaking the fall.
Stop tearing down the statues, my friend,
History is messy, yes, and imperfect, true,
Stop burning the books, let the knowledge ascend,
Let’s stop re-writing history’s tale,
For in the stories of our past, we find,
instead, a unity, in exploration we shall prevail,
For it’s in the acceptance of our diverse past,
wisdom to shape a future is found, in kind,
that we forge a future that will forever last.
Let history’s imperfections be our guide,
through those struggles, growth shines through,
In learning and growing, stand by my side.
Together we rise, divided we fall,
Let us fight the narratives that divide,
Let’s build bridges, tear down each wall,
For in understanding, only in together, shall we find,
that when we stand collectively, our strength amplified.
A future secured, where integrity and love are enshrined.
