Syllable restricted poem, Waters Edge

Waiting at the water’s edge,

I am in a time of thirst.

the ache I feel is hollow.

Waters wash down from heaven’s

edge and I feel alone. You

are waiting for a response.

At the dawn, you called my name.

The morning soon came and went.

Waters flowed by. I on the

edge stood frozen till evening

still waiting, Why am I deaf?

Me, “At a moment’s notice.”

the word of you Lord is like

waters that would quench thirst. The

edge is what I fear, but you

are waiting for me to jump

at your voice. Night falls. Please take

the fear away Lord and let

the waters wash me off this

edge before the day is done.
