In the Spring I did not know you.
I set afloat, a boat, in my play.
But I never thought to tell you
of all the dreams I had for this day.
Content together, we’d find our glee,
As other boats drift away,
In youth, we danced, so wild and free,
On reaching shore, I dreamed we’d say,
In summer, by the sand dunes and sea,
Let’s play in the tide, as oceans sway.
With age, we sought a calmer sea,
Come Fall, farewell to town we’d say,
Come, Captain, my Captain, by me abide,
I say, let us in dreams sail away,
Into winter, into joy as the seasons glide.
