Truth: age 21

Like a tear that falls from your eye,

truth is a raindrop that falls from the sky.

Where will it fall? Who, if anyone, knows

It moves through the clouds as the wind blows.

It falls from the lip and the tip of the nose.

Where will it fall? Who, if anyone, knows.

It may become part of a stream.

It may fall upon the grass to make it green.

It may land on a desert plain, easing the sun’s bake,

bringing life and growth in its refreshing wake.

Or on a rooftop, creating sounds that drown,

or bring comfort when you’re feeling down.

It may fall softly on a leaf,

creating a tiny moment of relief.

Or crash loudly on a window pane,

forcing you to shelter from the rain.

It may run into a river, pond, or lake.

Who knows the path that the rains’ tears take.

It may fall upon the mountaintop.

Who knows where it will flow or stop.

Like a tear that falls from your eye,

truth is a raindrop that falls from the sky.

Who, if anyone knows, what it will become?

The truth is, “The truth”, is a matter of opinion.

It may become the essence of a flowering wild.

or fall into a well to quench the thirst of a child.

Who knows when it will fall?

Or how it will fall?

As rain, sleet, or snow? or as an ice shower,

It changes in time and evolves in the hour.

No matter where it falls,

Or when or how it falls,

Like a tear that falls from your eye,

the truth can make you smile or make you cry.

But it’s always there, like the rain,

bringing change and growth, joy and pain.

So embrace the truth, wherever it falls,

let it wash you, like water to dusty walls.

Like a tear, it may be brief,

but its impact can be beyond belief.

Whatever it becomes, it never stays the same.

It can bring joy, it can bring pain,

but it always falls, though never in vain.

That is why truth is like a tear is like the rain.
