Let’s talk about Sex

On the subject of sexuality conversations shy,
In our country, it’s not illegal, let’s clarify,
oh, how I wish we talked about it more,
Yet discussions on this topic remain scarce,
Leaving confusion and questions in the air.

If only honesty could freely flow,
And our feelings openly we could show,
To alleviate confusion and doubts at our core.
Perhaps we’d find clarity and understanding,
Instead of silence, doubt, and withstanding.

Alcohol, legal for those grown,
With risks and benefits, it is known,
High-risk choices, youth, a dangerous blend,
A glass of red wine, health in moderation,
But in unsafe spaces, it can bring devastation.

Bars and vulnerability intertwined,
A dangerous mix, we come to find,
Exploitation lurking, a treacherous friend,
Evil preys on drunken souls,
Leaving scars, time hardly consoles.

Yet, the aspect of sex stays concealed,
A topic we fear, vulnerability revealed,
Healthy relationships, backed by science’s decree,
the nuclear family, studies have learned,
A solid foundation for long life affirmed.

A man and a woman, creation’s face.
Uniting to bring forth life’s embrace,
A family unit, intact, a vision we see,
Adoption opens doors for those in need,
Expanding love’s reach, a noble deed.

However, multiple partners in the mix,
Sex before marriage, raising risks,
In the shadows of silence, our fears are sealed.
Lifelong harm, trauma, and disease,
Consequences of choices that may displease.

Emotional trauma, infections that spread,
A cautionary tale, to children should be said.
if unspoken, to the child, risks are concealed,
Just as smoking or drugs like marijuana,
Legal but bearing risks, that we ponder,

Or prescription drugs, not illegal as named
life-altering consequences is peril unproclaimed,
The risks outweigh the benefits, Say it to their face.
For some, marijuana offers comfort at life’s end,
misused, altered paths, the children on us depend.

My point, is not to discuss morals or ethics,
But to emphasize choices, their effects,
Truth, balanced, is love’s saving grace.
Even in these not-illegal, not-ideal scenes,
Regulations protect children, preserving dreams.

Choices beyond one partner, before vows are sworn,
A realm of risks, where harm may be born,
to acknowledge these choices, as part of our realm.
Sexual deviance, drug, alcohol, statistical strife,
high risks prevailing in these paths of life.

Sexuality, a realm where openness must rise,
Embracing discussions, unveiling the disguise,
My point is not to judge, nor to condemn,
Let’s strive for understanding, empathy, and care,
To navigate this journey, with hearts aware.

Honest conversations, adult choices, let them be,
But shield the innocent, let children see,
Regulations seek to protect innocent souls,
High-risk choices, with maturity to grasp,
Understanding the risks before they clasp.

Honest conversations, a bridge we must build,
With maturity and understanding, let’s be skilled,
shield children from choices beyond their roles.
For it’s vital to comprehend the risks at hand,
Before venturing into uncharted land.
