Fight the Good Fight

by Salie Davis

We find ourselves in battles that are fought unseen,

Not as armored knights in shining steel to tell,

of this war of souls, where Demons and Angels dwell,

but as warriors in spiritual armor, in worlds between.

Where good and evil in battle rages. A constant scene.

In this great conflict, Heaven and Hell lure.

Each day dawns with a battle cry,

As we don our spiritual armor, we sigh.

No, I don’t like to think of life as war,

Yet daily skirmishes, we must endure,

We rise each morn, with purpose in our hearts,

To keep our souls aligned in love and grace.

To fight the fight of faith, in God’s embrace,

We pray, we seek, with every vital part,

To fight the good fight, in this sacred space.

Sometimes we falter, stumble on our way,

But with each dawn, a chance for us to mend,

We find our strength in God, our loyal friend.

For as the night gives in to the light of day,

dear souls, it’s not just words we say,

But actions in this war, day after day.

Life’s battle, quiet, waged beneath the sun,

A war of good and evil, never done,

In faith, we rise, in prayer, we find our way,

To keep the darkness at bay, day by day.

We fight the fight of faith, with heaven’s grace.

Not Sunday’s visit to the sacred hall,

But in daily battles, Christians heed the call,

In humble service, in love’s warm embrace,

Of this spiritual battle, we all must face.

To face the morrow, Our minds aligned

in God’s word and with His divine will,

with humble hearts, His love we instill.

In the pages of Scripture, our wisdom we find,

To navigate the battles of the heart and mind.

Oh, Christians, know your role in wrong and right,

A war against the shadows, dark and cold,

In this great story, let your hearts unfold.

Daily! Walk in faith, to let God’s love ignite.

Even by the minute, we must fight the good fight.
