History of Palestine

From Canaan’s ancient realm, we trace the past,
Before the modern state, the British sway,
Through kingdoms, empires, histories vast.

Yet no Palestinian state, did exist.
The mandate held, in the light of day.
Ottoman Empire’s reign, it did persist,

Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt’s golden hue,
In lands of old, where history unfurled,
Its dominion vast, but not for Palestine’s view.

In Ayyubid dynasty’s days of old,
No Palestinian state, across the world.
Godfrey of Bouillon, tales of courage told.

Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem, a noble name,
Before that, Fatimid Caliphate with power did thrive,
But still, no Palestinian state, the world did claim.

Byzantine Empire’s reign, with splendor and might,
Yet Palestine’s own state did not derive.
Palestine’s own state stayed out of sight.

Roman Empire’s rule, so vast and grand,
Before that, Hasmonean dynasty, came to be,
No Palestinian state, in that ancient land.

Seleucid Empire, in the pages of lore,
But not a Palestinian state, as far as we see.
No Palestinian state in its times of yore.

Alexander the Third, of Macedon’s great tale,
and before that, Persian Empire’s glory did illuminate,
Yet Palestine’s own state did not prevail.

The Babylonian Empire existed in history’s hand,
But Palestine’s own state-history did not create.
No Palestinian state, in this sacred land.

Kingdoms of Israel and Judea, they thrived,
The Kingdom of Israel existed since ancient times,
Yet Palestine’s own state was not derived.

Theocracy of twelve tribes, their path so divine,
But not a Palestinian state, in its rhymes.
For Palestine’s own state, was never sublime.
