To the passing Christian

You only knew me for a moment, a blink of an eye,

But you were honest when it would’ve been easier to lie.

I met you in passing, you could have seen me as a con,

But you respected my feelings, became a friend to lean on,

You were there even when it was hard. I had nothing to give you.

But you gave to me anyway, and said, I didn’t owe you.

You showed me kindness, helped me, though you didn’t know me,

You may never know the impact your kindness had on me.

If you are reading this, I hope you know now,

Your smallest act grew to be my saving grace somehow.

If you are not reading this, I’ll tell you later, in The Good Place,

that I am grateful for your integrity and for God’s saving Grace.
