From the Book Chapter 2 Labyrinth (a response poem) Poem 2

The only thing I truly desired from you

was a simple three-word phrase.

All I ever got from you

was a hard sarcastic gaze.

Why is it so hard to say

a simple from the heart “I love you.”?

It would take all this pain away,

A simple from the heart “I love you.”

Poem Two David Salie

Words hold such power, But some are harder to say,

Emotions can make us cower, Even when we want to convey.
But remember, love, is shown Not just in words, but in deeds,

Sometimes it’s not in the tone, But in the way someone leads.
Perhaps your loved one struggles With expressing their emotions aloud,

But they may show it in other juggles, Through actions that make you proud.

So hold on to the love you feel, Even if the words are hard to hear,

Let your actions show what’s real, And trust that love will always be near.
