“Mainers, A Breed Both Strong and Rare” by Salie Davis
In Maine, where hearty souls reside,
Our rugged hearts and spirit’s guide.
We’re known as Mainers, strong and true,
In nature’s beauty, we find our cue.
Mainers, a breed both strong and rare,
In Maine’s embrace, our hearts laid bare.
We find solace in the ocean’s roar,
In summer, we flock to the shore,
The beach, a jagged line near the sea,
A place where strength—nature’s beauty be.
Our beaches are all rocks and cold,
But Mainers love them, ‘cuz we’re bold.
From rocky shores to pine-filled woods,
In tranquil lakes, are solace goods.
A hardy folk, through frost and snow,
In Maine, characters always show.
A hardy breed, we’ll ever remain,
With strength, that’s bound to nature’s reign.
In every season’s song, in every breath of air,
Mainers, a breed both strong and rare.
