An original song: Flickering Flame (written in my 20’s)

Chorus:

We must all work together to kindle the fire

of every flickering flame

the strongest faith comes from the smallest desire

to know the love of God’s name.

It’s so hard to be strong when you feel so weak.

This road seems so long and this darkness complete

but all it takes is an outstretched hand

to help someone hold on

a guiding light to help them understand

remember when you weren’t so strong.

Chorus

The wise man shines his light

while the foolish man leaves his light behind.

And wanders into the night

to walk this road of life blind.

And isn’t it a shame

when that man was yet a boy,

in his heart there was a flickering flame,

but now that flame is destroyed.

Chorus

That foolish man built his house on sand

while the wise man built on solid ground

when the rains came, that foolish man

saw his house falling down.

For there was no one to take his hand

or shine a guiding light

to help that young man stand

as he was falling into the night.

Chorus

It’s so hard to be strong

when you feel so weak

this road seems so long

and this darkness complete.

So shine your light for me

teach me the love of his name

so that I might seemingly

for I am but a flickering flame.

Chorus
