News Poetry: Reflecting on the 2020 Election

Dear Americans, in this divisive hour,

Of Conservatives and Radicals, a tale so bold,

Unity, a call from the political acceptance stage,

Recollections resurface a complex power.

Of unity sought, or so I’m told.

For history whispers another page.

An American president, his call sincere,

Boycotts, spies, and dossier gigs,

The media’s narrative is a twisted decree.

Met with a partisan boycotting leer.

In the crazy world of political pigs.

Riots and looting, a chaotic spree,

State of the Union torn, a cowardice act,

Spying eyes from the law’s high station,

A Russian dossier, democrat’s web of deceit,

On national TV, always a divisive impact.

A campaign marred by investigation.

Impeachment battles in the hallowed seat.

A speech torn up like an actress on live TV,

In this political tragedy, a tainted name.

Americans, side characters in strife,

The play, The State of the Union, can’t you see?

The election, stolen in a regicidal game,

In the political drama, promise of a tragic life.

No unity in this political stage,

Ukraine’s call, a big hullabaloo,

The Politicians call, an impeachment quest,

They echo the echoes of a divided age.

Accusations flying, oh, what to do?

Pay-to-play allegations, put to the test.

The pandemic blamed on the other side,

Accusations mirrored, a political game,

Riots and looting in America’s heart,

Encouraged to burn in a crazy ride.

Pandemic conspiracy, a responsibility claim

given by Politicians tearing unity apart.

This American won’t play nice,

Election stolen is not such a wild claim,

In the political playground, I confess.

In this land of political mice.

In the political circus, a crazy game.

No unity here, just a big mess!
