In shadows deep, when in death we sleep,
this thief steals what’s held so dear.
Yet, in the night, our hope takes flight,
For Jesus, our Redeemer is always near.
Grief it brings, and fear it sings,
When death’s cold touch is all we feel.
God, our strength, will go to any length,
To bring us joy that’s true and real.
Judgment’s shadow is cast, the die is cast,
As death looms over, tall and wide.
Yet God, our light, in radiance bright,
Guides us through to the other side.
Hollow we stand, holding empty hands,
As loved ones slip beyond our sight.
But Jesus, our defender, in arms so tender,
Wraps us in comfort, pure and bright.
Life’s fragile thread, a whispered dread,
Death’s reminder echoes through our core.
God, we, in his image cast, in love so vast,
Gives us a purpose that lasts forevermore.
Time doesn’t set us free, all we thought we’d be
The dreams, the hopes, and the plans go untold.
Yet God, sets Time in its place, in boundless grace,
Eternity unveils a future yet to unfold.
Midst death’s cruel reign, a flicker remains,
God’s love is pure, steadfast, and sure.
For Jesus, on our side, with arms open wide,
Offers redemption, forever secure.
As we pass the breath we draw will be our last,
As earthly veils are shed, we transcend.
Jesus, as our Savior alone, will guide us home,
Where our souls find the peace that knows no end.
So, in death or in life’s consuming strife,
Remember the truth that forever prevails.
Jesus, our Redeemer, sins release, brings us peace,
In Him, our souls find the grace that never fails.
