Pause and listen: age 25

Take a pause and listen
as I call across this great void.
Take a pause and listen.

You are a man of high standards,
high dreams and high hopes.
You seek the highest mountains
and climb them without ropes.
You’ve earned the highest honors
You have my highest respect.
You’re highly educated with high intellect.

Now take a pause and listen
as I call across this great void.
Take a pause and listen.

You couldn’t be higher being ten feet tall.
So high I can’t reach you and you’re starting to fall.
What was it that caused you to go up so high?
Was it all those dreams of yours of touching the sky,
or was it I?
With all my expectations and my foolish hopes
expecting to climb mountains using no ropes.
I tried to bring you down to earth
and lost your respect
but I only brought you down hoping
we could connect.

Now take a pause and listen
as I call across this great void.
Take a pause and listen.

You are a man of high standards,
high dreams and high hopes.
You seek the highest mountains
and climb them without ropes.
You’ve earned the highest honors
You have my highest respect.
you’re highly educated with high intellect.

Now take a pause and listen
as I call across this great void.
Take a pause and listen.

Is it too late?
Has it been that long
since I asked your forgiveness
for all that I’ve done wrong?
Might we put aside all the reasons why
forgive the fault and forget goodbye?

Now take a pause and listen
as I call across this great void.
Take a pause and listen.
