Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry: age 16

The doors are closed and locked.
So many secrets go untold.
A child in the dark. Her soul–so very old.
Beaten and bruised by times cruel hand.
Emotionless through distrust.
No one knows the secrets hidden behind her eyes.
Dreams turned into dust.
Her dreams – to be swept away
by those who would not care.
Tears to cry where no one may see them.
If only her pain could be willingly shared.
Shared by another child alone.
Emotionally destroyed by the evils of man.
It is much easier to climb this ladder of life,
If it is done hand in hand.
Love blossoms were none was given.
Emotion comes forth where once none existed.
Two souls, once barren
in a confusion of darkness.
Sharing secrets that once
were forbidden to be told.
The doors are closed and locked.
So many secrets left to tell.
Two children in the dark.
In fear of the light, they now feel in their hearts.
So alien to them, their love.
Meaning nothing to others.
Youth is born again…
In the heart of a friend.
