In Illness and in Spiritual Health: from The Book

In shadows dwell,

weakened by illness,

Silent cries concealed.

Illumine the path with love,

Bring light to heal the spirit.

The depths of night

consumes hope,

Shrouded in despair.

But in the darkness, a spark,

Love’s lantern ignites the way.

Sarah had a vivid imagination that overflowed into her mind often flooding her with emotions. Writing her emotions, her fears, her thoughts down on paper always seemed to help. She had found great joy in sharing these with her only friend. At the end of her street, there was a house where a kind and wise man named David resided. He was known to be a poet, and his words had the power to touch the hearts of those who read them.

Sarah and David would often meet in his cozy study, surrounded by shelves filled with books and the comforting aroma of freshly brewed tea. They would share their latest poems, discussing the thoughts and emotions that inspired their words. Sarah admired David’s ability to express his feelings so eloquently, and she cherished their deep conversations about life, love, and the power of written words.

One day, news reached Sarah that David had been in the hospital. Her young mind was filled with worry and fear as she imagined the worst. David, being in his forties, had to undergo a procedure, and Sarah, being so young, did not fully understand the extent of his condition or the concept of recovery.

Days turned into weeks, and Sarah couldn’t shake off her concerns. She felt a profound sense of loneliness, thinking that David might never return. Her heart ached at the possibility of losing her dear friend, her mentor, and her source of comfort.

Finally, the day arrived when David returned home. Although he had physically recovered, he could sense the deep worry etched on Sarah’s face. Understanding her emotional nature, he invited her over for tea. As they sat together, David gently placed a comforting hand on Sarah’s shoulder and listened attentively to her fears.

With a warm smile, David reached for a small, well-worn Bible on his bookshelf. He explained to Sarah that, just as their friendship had been a source of solace and support, there was someone even greater who would always be there for her. He spoke about God and His unfailing love, assuring Sarah that even when he couldn’t physically be there, God would listen to her prayers and offer comfort in times of need.
