New Year’s Eve in Old New York

The touchstone’s reflection is a point of reference.
A sanctuary of words musing a tranquil inference.
Abstract in thought is Madame’s elegant schemes,
moral blackmail, and romantic tragedy, where ice steams.

For Ethan and the sisters, bound by familial ties,
a measure of missed opportunities, secrets, and lies.
False dawn breaks with a deceptive light,
and a spark ignites in the passions of the night.

New Year’s Day in sleepy attire unfolds,
and the old maid whispers and in memory holds,
a day fast and loose, pompandstance!
A date with fate is a fleeting romance.
