News Poetry: More than 1000 killed

News Poetry: More than 1000 killed. This was from 2023, Current news articles talk about the drastic increase in female suicides and the live stoning of women as the Taliban get more and more cruel.

For Afghani women life is chaos,
Afghanistan under the Taliban is lost.
They murder the people who do not fight,
killed, to silence their voices in the night.

The Taliban’s grip tightens, unyielding,
Unreported attacks, the truth concealing.
A significant number, they say,
Deaths unclaimed, their toll in disarray.

These innocent lives are not mere casualties of war,
Murdered for not covering their faces, yet we fail to abhor.
Among them, women and innocent youth,
Victims of violence, searching for truth.

Lives lost because they dared to go to school
Education disrupted, because of the Taliban rule.
The Taliban also places a ban on foreign aid,
No assistance to women or children, they forbade.

IED attacks in populated lands,
Worship places, schools, now danger stands.
Shiite mosques, a target of hate,
Civilians caught in a merciless fate.

The Islamic State’s affiliate, they claim,
A rival to the Taliban, their violent aim.
Reprehensible acts on the innocent,
A plea for peace, the world’s lament.

The UN demands an end to this strife,
Holding the Taliban responsible for life.
But amidst financial and economic despair,
Access to support becomes scarce and rare.

Struggling victims, in dire need,
Medical aid, and finances to heed.
Psychosocial support, a fragile thread,
Diminished by donor funding’s dread.

Moderation is promised, but rules are enforced,
Girls’ education was curtailed, and progress divorced.
Afghan women, silenced and confined,
NGOs and the UN, their work maligned.

In the echoes of history’s pain,
The Taliban’s rule repeats again.
Sharia’s law, its strict decree,
A world outcry, will they ever be free?
