Mystery girl: age 22
I went to the county fair and when I was there
I saw a mystery girl. I think her name was Pearl.
She was swinging in the breeze with her golden curls.
She was a mystery girl.
Oh, mystery girl if you could be with me
sweet mystery girl, I’d unlock the mystery.
I saw every show but she didn’t know,
that my love was true. I didn’t know what to do.
I went the whole summer long and wrote her this song
that I’d hoped to share to show her I cared.
Oh, mystery girl if you could be with me
sweet mystery girl, I’d unlock the mystery.
Then when the summer was through I knew what to do.
I stayed after the show I was gonna let her know,
but to my surprise right before my eyes
I saw my mystery girl holding another guy.
Oh, mystery girl if you could be with me
sweet mystery girl, I’d unlock the mystery.
I don’t recall what happened that night,
I think there was a fight. Then I left town,
and the fair closed down, They say it was a tragedy,
Quite a mystery, some sort of accident with the flying trapeze.
