Someone else’s eyes: age 20

Sometimes you have to take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.

Then you’ll see what they do, not the things you want them to.

When you take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.

I remember a time not long ago when like the stars we shone brightly together

and I believed that like the stars we would go on shining forever.

Then these dreams were swept away by the hardships of time

but losing my hope and faith in you was my only crime.

Sometimes you have to take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.
Then you’ll see what they do, not the things you want them to

when you take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.
If I said, “I’m sorry.” I don’t believe you’d believe me but that’s O.K.

if that’s the way it has to be. I understand you’re angry.

You have a right to be. now I see what you see when you look at me.
Sometimes you have to take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.

Then you’ll see what they do, not the things you want them to

when you take the time to look through someone else’s eyes.

If only you could forgive me as I forgave you.

Then maybe we could be happy if only

you would look through someone else’s eyes.
