The Old Sailor

There once was a sailor,
well-seasoned and wise,
His heart was anchored firmly
in the ocean-no ties.
He was married to saltwater,
the ocean’s embrace,
A love that transcended
every man-made place.
He, the sailor, in memories and dreams,
in all waters, he’d roam.
through his journeys,
beyond the world’s wisdom, he’d known
the embrace of both land
and the salt water’s pledge.
Now as an old man,
he resides by the water’s edge,
but by the water, on the land,
he will never find his home,
until his soul is carried away
to eternity by the ocean’s foam.
