Still Neurodivergent

Still neurodivergent when on waiting lists, patience wears thin, a fight without and from within.
Still neurodivergent, a truth to unfold, Yet the path to a diagnosis is fraught with shoulders cold.
Still neurodivergent, and it’s not right when insurance won’t pay for assessments, and funds are tight,
Still neurodivergent, feeling judged, and unseen, I am me in a world that defines what I should and shouldn’t be.
Still neurodivergent, “Not looking autistic” in neurotypical eyes, A misconception where my struggle lies.
Still neurodivergent, high functioning until I can’t be, unable to voice what’s hidden in me.
Still neurodivergent, stereotypes cast aside, an identity shunned, no one in which to confide.
Still neurodivergent when I camouflage and to their will bend, conditioned by society, I must pretend.
Still neurodivergent years of fitting in, a facade built so strong, sight lost of where I truly belong.
Still neurodivergent a woman can be autistic, stories untold, undiagnosed even when I’m old,
Still neurodivergent without diagnosis, with needs to report, yet left to struggle without support.
Still neurodivergent even if never seen, in the eyes of the system, lost in the gaps in between.
Still neurodivergent beyond labels and names, seeking a world that embraces, not blames and shames.
Still neurodivergent, I silently cope, trying to encourage understanding and hope.
Still neurodivergent I wear a badge of pride, as I teach my daughter to not hide, don’t mask what’s inside.
Still neurodivergent, changing the narrative, one heart at a time, creating a society both compassionate and kind.
Still neurodivergent not broken, a beautiful variance, even when words go unspoken, give us a chance.
