My daughter, born into a world of plight,
the world seems blind, but you are my sight.
Each line I trace upon your face
is a map of peace in war’s embrace.
The world is torn. No order is found,
where death sings a low mournful sound.
An epicedium for lost daughters, lost sons,
their lives undone by cold steel guns.
But you, my child, you breathe life into Isreal,
A gift of God for he knows too well.
That even the land remembers broken cries,
and that in your eyes, our future lies.
Cease-fire may come and the battles cease,
the soldiers may lay in quiet peace.
Yet Israel still bears the cost,
of those who fought and those we lost.
“It is fitting to die for one’s country,” they said,
but honor fades when so many are dead.
Yet here you are, my living grace,
A quiet hope in your soft face.
In you, the wars are left behind,
a hope that heals both heart and mind.
My Daughter, the Gift of God
