Bound by Words and Chains

She lit the candle and the room with a glance,
He carried sweet dreams and a Valentine tart.
He had hoped she would give him one last chance.
Her silence broke the night and his heart.

He carried her purse and the weight of guilt,
They turned the key and the page of a book,
in a house of lies where adultery was built,
leaving behind all the time it took.

She played the radio and his heart,
He held a cup and his breath so tight,
She sang some notes, the letters tore him apart,
as morning broke and his cup, dropped in the night.

He ran from the truth and the pouring rain,
He lost his keys to his car and his way back home.
Catching his breath and fleeting moments in vain.
He ran through crowded streets and thoughts alone.

She packed her memories and the last of her hope,
She wore a smile and an old coat of dust,
As she tied up loose ends with fraying rope,
time slipped past the door and their trust.

As he sought meaning and the keys to his home,
bound by the moments they both once knew,
he unlocked his future and what was left unknown.
Together they talked and their silence grew.

He carried the weight of truth and his bags,
They shared a glance and a piece of cake,
They cleaned the slate and the old house with rags.
As he cut through the tension of what’s at stake.

She held her breath and the fragile glass,
as promises whispered through the passing years.
They watched memories shatter as moments passed.
She held his hand and the weight of their fears.

Together they stood on the edge and the floor,
bound by the past and the words left unsaid.
Facing the dawn and what life had in store,
they carried their burdens and luggage like lead.
