Political Average

Political Average

The Average American is not far right
nor far left yet understand
a polarized view grips American media,
as politicians demand.
Amid this intense divide,
More than half of us in balance abide.

We lean but slightly, either left or right.
Yet the slightest lean and it’s a fight.
The clash of views,
a hint of disagreement that either hears,
makes every comment a battle to the death
because of fears.

If left-leaning thoughts are voiced,
beware the name—
“Socialist” is the slur, it’s a flag-burning flame!
And if the right voice opinions, the labels sting—
“Radical”, and “fascist”
are the harsh words they fling.

Those who scream “idiot”, though loud,
are not the norm,
For most of us, the center holds its form.
Yes, extremes exist,
yet you should not cast a glare,
for the majority is more so in agreement
then the media will share.

Political propaganda ignites
the fight with zeal,
But using common sense
Americans stand as real.
We are those who disagree,
yet in the middle stay,
who cherish differing thoughts
without the dismay.

In our hearts,
we hold a simple truth refined,
that love for our country
unites the American mind.
They say don’t talk of politics,
leave it at the door.
Yet to know truth,
we must speak on politics more!
