The old road winds through fields of flame,
Where shadows dance and whisper names.
Dreamers march, their hearts aflame,
Toward the front where none return the same.
In Laventie, the iron sings,
A melody of war’s cruel wings.
The sky once bright, is now bathed in red,
As thoughts of home rise with the dead.
The glory sought, the dreamer’s crown,
Is far beyond the shell-torn ground.
Yet still they strive, with hope so pure,
In that dream, they find their cure.
Through battle’s cry and cannon’s roar,
They walk the road forevermore.
With each step taken, they reclaim
A fleeting glimpse of Heaven’s flame.
But Laventie whispers, soft and low,
That glory’s price is grief and woe.
And yet they march, with hearts of stone,
To find in war their wayward home.
