White Bleeds Black Too
From 2023 to 1965,
we read of the years of strife
and looking back beyond 1865,
freedom brothers strive,
With a nation torn apart, life by life.
Slavery, a nation torn apart,
healing comes when we learn to see,
Sister bled with sister, heart to heart.
Let unity be our guiding call,
with beauty in our commonality, our diversity.
Our Diversity, different yet united we stood,
United we stand, divided we fall,
Accepting the differences, as we should,
We found the strength to heal and fuse—
together—we must send out a unity call!
Together—yet lo and behold, our foes do know,
though we seek unity to see us through,
the power of division, the seeds they sow,
Promoting violence, stirring unrest,
Divide and conquer, our enemies knew…
White Bleeds Black Too.
In the aftermath of the 2020 protests, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the broader conversations about systemic racism in America the media failed to challenge the simplistic binaries often used to define race relations.
Civilized society seeks an understanding of shared humanity and mutual suffering. Forces of division continue to manipulate and inflame tensions in society. Political and social polarization intensified post 2020.
External and internal forces—whether political, social, or economic—use racial strife to maintain control and destabilize unity. Historical tactics were used by politicians to weaken movements for equality and justice in order to strengthen governmental control.
Most Americans recognize diversity not as a source of division, but as a strength. Progress and healing come when people from different racial and cultural backgrounds come together. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated for nonviolent resistance and interracial solidarity. Only through collective effort and mutual respect can a nation move forward.
Forces of division, whether political or social, have historically and continue to undermine efforts for unity and equality. Unity in diversity is the path forward, even as the struggle for justice continues.
