A tale unfolds, a tale untold. anger flared, an inferno’s heat,
A history shrouded, dark and cold, with eyes aflame, a pain replete.
Family shattered, bonds torn asunder, in the wake of a love society plunders
A tale of kinship, love denied though bold, lost in the echo of taboo lore,
To know the face, the tale untold, I yearned to know, an ancestry to explore.
Of hushed regret, a forbidden love’s sting, a legacy buried, a silenced thing.
Of a grandfather in shadows, secrets enfold yet threats still linger, a haunting call,
Years pass, and the story grows old, a warning to keep the past in thrall.
Bloodlines blend in history’s sweep, a yearning heart in secrets deep.
Yet, the mystery, like a river that flowed – she, of privilege, he, of the earth,
through history, looking for a legacy of gold, instead verboten, denied true worth.
The white and red, a clash untamed, a heritage sought, but falsely named.
Disowned, shunned, their story told. Their hearts entwined, a secret flame,
A clandestine romance, foolish, brave, cold, society’s judgment, a condemning claim.
Disowned by kin, and shunned by friends, their union condemned love’s fragile amends.
Bound by passion, a love to behold, a love conceived, an unexpected fate,
The secrets, the whispers, heritage now told, a child on the way, sealed by destiny’s gate.
A shotgun wedding, vows in haste, but joy eclipsed, replaced by bitter taste.
A love extinguished, cast out from the fold, A legacy tainted, a family’s painful claim.
Unearthed roots, buried in fool’s gold, A grandfather, an Indian, a whispered shame.
A Whispered Shame
