I Tried God, But It Didn’t Work

I Tried God, But It Didn’t Work

They say, “I tried God, but it didn’t work,”
As if faith were a key to a life without strife,
A simple cure-all for the burdens we bear,
An easy escape from the snares of this life.

But faith in God is not a spell to cast,
To banish temptations or silence the storm,
It’s a surrender, a cry for strength at last,
To choose the right path, to seek His form.

For Jesus calls us to lay down our will,
To carry our cross, to follow His way,
Not to erase the choices that fill
Each moment, each step, each passing day.

In every trial, when the flesh is weak,
And sin’s shadow looms large and near,
His Spirit whispers the strength we seek,
A power to overcome, to cast out fear.

God’s faithfulness stands firm and true,
In every prayer for deliverance, He is there,
Not once has He turned away from you,
When you cried out in need, in earnest prayer.

But how often have we failed to cry,
To seek His grace in our hour of need?
Yet His forgiveness he does not deny,
His mercy is grace, not won by deeds.

So let not your heart be quick to doubt,
God is faithful, His love never fades,
When we fall, He lifts us out,
Jesus saves. His grace deserves accolades.

To try God is not to test or see,
But to surrender, to trust, to be made whole,
In the face of temptations, His strength will be
even in our weakness, a salvation of the soul.
