My Friend Fame

In clamoring Jericho, the voices of the public ring,
Where walls of pride like magnets pull apart,
imprisoned souls in restless chains that cling,
to glorification as envy whispers to the heart.

The glorious game, it calls with a siren’s voice,
Rosa petals crushed to make perfume, pure bright,
but fame, a fleeting choice, a distant noise,
can trap the soul within its golden light.

To you, my friend now drowned in incensed fame,
I see the weight of laurels on your brow—
Once free to chase the winds without a name,
Now bound by praises you did not allow.
Yet still, beneath the clamor of the crowd,
Your heart, I know, remains in truth endowed.
