Oubliette- To Forget
Her name is Oubliette.
Dark eyes, to forget.
No light, no love,
thrown down from above.
They named her Oubliette.
As a babe, she cried in the dark.
The walls etched with her mark,
until tears ran dry.
Echoes of an empty sigh,
it whispers, “Oubliette”.
The cold embrace, to forget.
The rats know her name as Oubliette.
Now grown,
surviving on rot and bone.
To forget.
In the shadows, in the depth,
where lost memories are swept,
Where light never fell,
remnants of a broken shell,
where only the rats wept.
To forget her grim domain
comfort she finds in her pain.
With little strength but fierce resolve,
a little mad, she climbed the walls,
a little mad, but not insane.
Oubliette,
dark eyes to forget.
Free at last, but the day’s too bright.
She waits in the shadows until it is night.
Wandering in darkness, to forget.
Each day she waits till night’s descent,
to wander in darkness, her solace, her lament.
If you see her in the shadows, don’t ask why.
If you see her wounded, you won’t see her cry.
If she wounds you, she will not repent.
They named her Oubliette,
to forget, to forget.
but if you see her, don’t ask her, her name.
If she speaks it, you will suffer her pain.
Just forget, Oubliette.
