When people say they love the ocean,
They mean the shimmer on the surface,
The glint of the sun on easy waves,
The breeze that brushes their skin—distant.
They walk the shore, toes dipped in the foam,
gentle splash, flirtations with the edge.
They love the ocean, or so they say,
But never venture beneath its calm.
Maybe they’ll sail, or maybe they’ll cruise,
Skim the glassy face, feeling the sway—
But never in it, where shadows lurk,
Where the unknown waits, the vast and dark.
Under the surface lies worlds too deep,
Too strange and too dangerous to seek.
It’s not the ocean they fear, but depth,
Where light fades only the brave descend.
Don’t love me like they love the ocean,
Admiring from the shore or boat.
You must Love me like a deep-sea dive,
Like a submarine captain, daring.
Come into my depths with the currents,
Where the pressure builds and silence hums.
Explore the dark where others won’t go.
Beauty and danger exist below.
If you dare say you love the ocean,
Then prove it—dive into the abyss.
