I Will Not Eat Their Feast

Let me immerse my soul in the universe.
My spirit to find truth travels wide,
while in disdain the others chide.
They declare, my truth unfair.

I toil, this is my humble lot,
working from dusk to first light.
Others scoff, it’s their delight
doubts echo, yet I falter not.

Though withering away I do not eat
their feast, my spirit seeking to find
truth and as the years unwind,
others laugh, their souls seemingly replete.

Seeming to live without toil till dead,
their bellies full of the lies they bought,
I endure, in the labor I’ve sought.
Finally, in modesty, my soul is fed.
