Antithesis
An antithesis poem is a type of poem that presents contrasting ideas or concepts within its verses, often highlighting opposing emotions, principles, or perspectives. It uses juxtaposition to emphasize the differences between the subjects, creating a sense of tension or balance. The structure often mirrors the oppositional nature, setting up a clear comparison between two forces, such as truth vs. lies, love vs. hate, or light vs. darkness. The purpose of an antithesis poem is to bring out the complexities in the opposing ideas and to provoke thought by illustrating how they coexist or conflict.
An Antithesis: Government Truth V2
In truth, where honesty freely resides,
Lies from the government harshly collide.
Seeking for clarity, yearning for right,
Yet hidden agendas slip out of sight.
Truth is a beacon, it’s shining to guide,
Government smokescreens mislead and divide.
People crave trust and transparency’s face,
The government cloaks it, leaving no trace.
Justice stands firm. Its a voice to defend,
Corruption reigns high, with lies to extend.
People speak boldly, demanding the cure,
The government falters, corrupt—impure.
Truth is a pillar. Its steadfast and strong,
The government’s deceptions prove us wrong.
One seeks the light, the other, seeks disguise—
People rise, rise up to unmask their lies.
In truth, there’s hope for a future to mend,
While deception crumbles before its end.
A battle of opposites—clear—defined,
The people’s quest is with justice aligned.
