An adult, un-diagnosed yet aware,
See the benefits and the burdens it can bear.
unveil the mask, understanding’s embrace,
High-functioning, with academic might,
struggles unseen, hidden from sight.
Unveil the mask, find my rightful place.
If only, in youth, the diagnosis had come,
A guiding light to help me overcome.
Unveil the mask, advocate my needs,
Life stages, environment, and circumstances unfold,
Shaping the journey, as stories are told.
Unveil the mask, and unlock where understanding breeds.
So let us champion acceptance’s plea,
Embrace the differences, and let love run free.
Unveil the mask, it’s all we ask.
As an autistic adult, I’ve come to see,
The strength lies within us, the potential is set free
All we ask is to unveil the mask.
