Poems in a Bread Tin

The bread tin finds new use,
Poems dusted like flour—
The crumbs—words, to peruse,
as life’s verses empower.
Once it held crusts and crumbs,
this tin of rye and wheat,
now, the breadth of dreams succumbs
thoughts savored bittersweet.
Sustenance in words that hold,
Bites of thought, feasts in mind,
toasted lines, hearts behold.
repast times, undefined.
Lines of longing, lines of cheer,
Verses rise just like dough,
Baked fresh, intentions clear,
Soft, warm, a yeasty glow.
Each line was cooked with care,
Folded notes, poets art,
Recipes; raw and rare.
Kneaded for hungry hearts.

In the bread tin, they lie,
Lines kept in full supply.
