When Life is All Left

When Life is All Left

Life is a game, in one way and another.
It’s also a performance, a dance to a tune
Played on an instrument, unnamed by its maker.
It’s a team sport, but I was born with two left feet,
So I can neither dance the dance nor play the game.
My two left hands make it impossible to play
Any tune on any instrument, unnamed…
Yet still, I collect them, silent and gathering dust
In corners of rooms that remain in stillness.

So, though life is a game, I call it a card game.
But with my two left brains, the only game I can play
is solitaire, and yet I always reshuffle the deck
whenever I fear that I might lose.
It’s my game, after all.
