The Sailors Melody
Beneath Mother Night, as a sailor I vow,
As a soul adrift, the ocean’s pull I endow.
From ways to oceans where islands gleam,
I follow the stars through a timeless dream.
The west wind blows like Hell’s despair,
A haunting tune, its chorus laid bare.
But I laugh, defiant, a buccaneer bold,
With treasures more precious than silver or gold.
My story is written on waves unknown,
By seas that charted my life, songs have grown,
In St. Mary’s gold city, I glimpsed pure light,
But sailors linger not long in the night.
With a captain’s fancy and trade winds to guide,
We chased the sun where life first abides.
Each port a tale, each harbor a song,
A melody borne from the seas all along.
Oh, dauber, paint my journey so grand,
For I am but dust on time’s fleeting sand.
This farewell I sing, my final refrain,
To the sea’s wild call, I’ll ever remain.
from seas rolling crest, the wild ducks take flight,
While the pier hums low its gentle goodnight.
In fragments I find beauty, but tarry not here—
The sailor’s song will call me near.
As years tell their tale, I am destined to roam,
Yet the melody leads me forever back home.
