The Weight of Words
Talk is cheap until it costs your soul,
A careless tongue can take its toll.
Like the rudder that guides a mighty ship,
Small yet powerful, it charts our grip.
Words matter—each one a seed,
Sown in hearts, to sprout or bleed.
But the well from which they rise must be
Cleansed by Christ, pure and free.
No one is perfect; we all have erred,
Our conscience warped, our judgment blurred.
But through the cross, redemption flows,
A Savior’s love that overthrows.
The blood of Christ can wash us clean,
His Spirit fills where sin has been.
A new creation, yet still we choose—
To speak with love or let pride bruise.
For words have power to wound or heal,
To lift a heart or crush its zeal.
So pause and pray before you speak,
Let wisdom guide, and kindness seek.
The Bible teaches the soul’s great need,
For saving grace to intercede.
Once made new, our words should show
The light of Christ, the love we know.
Choose wisely, then, the words you share,
Reflect the One whose cross you bear.
For talk is cheap, but truth’s worth gleams—
A tongue, a life, a soul redeemed.
