A Wanderer’s Song
As a sailor, I set my creed, my song is ever near,
to a Sea fever’s calling, wait not for me, I’m bound,
bound by the ocean’s need, my motives are made clear.
tonight at the Pier as I grow old I’ve found
to laugh, to be merry, I wrote my biography—strange,
From the oceans to islands to sky,
A sea with cargoes marked my course, my life’s exchange.
I trace the stars, as time passes by.
A yarn I followed, the sun’s account, I saw the light,
this voyage in colors is a port of many ships,
But wanderers like me never tarry by night.
Each moment a song from everlasting mercy’s lips.
where life begins, I tarry my whole life long
For I am but a wanderer singing my wanderer’s song
