He speaks, yet does not steer my hands,
Nor binds my feet in heavy bands.
His wisdom charts the course of light,
Yet leaves me choosing dark or bright.
No puppet strings—my will is free,
Yet woven through eternity.
He knows the paths my steps may take,
Yet bids me walk for my own sake.
He shapes, He calls, He draws, He warns,
He mends the hearts the world has torn.
But never does His hand decree
The wickedness that grieves the free.
The blame is ours; the grace is His,
Redeeming all that sin unpins.
And through the chaos, through the strife,
His love still works, restoring life.
God Allows
