The Pencil, Pen, and Crayon

The Pencil, Pen, and Crayon

The pencil carves a graphite line,
As the crayon dreams in colours,
yet the pencil lacks a colourful design.
And the crayon is not acute like the others.

The pen glides with flowing grace
Yet none can claim the other’s spark—
The pen cannot erase a single trace.
The crayon soft, pen and pencil sharp.

Each tool laments what it lacks,
The pen flows fine, a steady stream,
yet ink preserves every mistake it tracks,
When compared to the eraser’s seem.

Comparison dims what they were created for;
The crayon, pencil, and pen—all three,
In comparison falling short of something more.
Each made to serve a unique destiny.
