A Time to Change

A Time to Change

In the country cottage, dim with rain,
the poet, lover, birdwatcher waits—
watching the Paradise Flycatcher dart
through branches thick—quiescent fate.

The lessons ended long ago,
yet noesis stays in marriage walls.
A time to change, a time to grow,
but philosophy still gently calls.

At a goodbye party for Miss Entertainment—
She was the best of one, yet is no more.
The Island is Soap, the tide runs high,
washing her footprints from the shore.

Dusk of mortality stings, hush—the past,
a patriot lost in the background, casually.
The couple walks through fading light,
their shadows long for a life set free.
