The Curtains Now Are Drawn

The Curtains Now Are Drawn

A confession to a friend in trouble,
I sometimes think the curtains now are drawn—
Cloaked in shadow and memories past—on
new beginnings floating like a bubble.
A mother, a wife, a poet sighs—
As the commonplace day swiftly flies.
Looking back, the moon grows—
and shadows are cast in spectral rows.
Sitting in the dark with despair, alone—
Sitting in the dark, chilled to bone.
In the depth of night the music plays—
Melodies repeat, written in numerous ways.
After all the tales are spun,
Still, the mighty work is yet to be done.
