Coin Toss in the Wind

Coin Toss in the Wind

A father to his child speaks low
of fences built where monies flow.
A million young workers rise
beneath an electric sign’s demise.

Accomplished facts, they march in line,
and so today, they toe the time.
And they obey—the Sphinx just grins,
as alley rats scratch hollowed bins.

Baby face, baby toes,
growing where the cold wind blows.
Between two hills, the blue bones lie,
yet fail to tell tales of days gone by.

A brass key turns, farewell never comes,
blacklisted names, in the media drums.
Yet through the rebel air, voices spin—
a coin still turns upon the wind.
