Exit Sign

This world is burning — can’t you smell the smoke?
The walls are red with flame, the rafters creak,
And still they laugh and sip, and softly choke,
As if the blaze were but a party’s peak.
The Gospel glows — an EXIT sign above,
Yet few will lift their eyes to see that love.
They hush the siren screaming at the door,
Unplug the bells, repaint the warning red.
They like the fire — they’ve made it home and more —
A place where selfish wants are daily fed.
They’d rather dance in heat than kneel to grace,
Than let a Savior pull them from this place.
But you — don’t give up hope, though hearts are stone.
You’re not the Judge, nor can you fix their fall.
Just point to Christ, the cross, the empty tomb,
And show that mercy waits — still free for all.
Love loud and true, through flame and ash and fear,
The EXIT’s there. Just help them see it clear.
