Love and Lore
It was a lover and his lass,
Beneath the shade, on the soft green grass,
Juliet’s voice, a soliloquy of yearning,
Her heart aflame, her soul still burning.
Love that binds and breaks and mends,
A force eternal, yet it bends.
Three witches weave with toil and trouble,
Casting love spells, life’s joys to double.
Now the hungry lion roars,
Through moonlit woods and hidden moors.
Now, my co-mates and brothers in exile,
Find solace in love, each other’s smile.
O never say that I was false of heart,
Though worlds may shift, we shall not part.
Orpheus, in love, with his lute, made trees
Dance in harmony with musical pleas.
“Sigh no more,” cries Silvia’s song,
To love’s embrace, we all belong.
“Sir, in my hear,t there was a kind of fighting,”
A battle ‘tween shadows and love’s own lighting.
Some say that ever ‘gainst that season comes,
When hearts beat louder than fate’s drums.
Song of the witches, their cauldron brews,
Life’s riddles spun in love’s mystic hues.
