What Do You Want?
What do you want, O soul that seeks,
A fleeting joy, or truth that speaks?
Faith is the key, the path, the light,
Yet it must align with God’s delight.
We ask, we plead, with hearts confined,
By earthly treasures, hopes designed.
But Christ has taught us where to start—
Seek heaven’s kingdom, set your heart.
To want our will before His own,
Is folly dressed in prideful tone.
For holiness must first take place,
Before we bask in mercy’s grace.
Do you treasure what moths consume,
Or what endures beyond the tomb?
Where your treasure is, your heart dwells,
So choose the path where heaven swells.
Align desire with God’s decree,
His wisdom shapes eternity.
For what we want may fade away,
But His perfect will will always stay.
So what do you want? Pause, reflect.
Seek first the kingdom, then expect
That mercy, wisdom, love, and peace
Will grant your soul its sweet release.
