Eternal Becoming

Eternal Becoming
When death takes me, may my spirit endure,
as a raindrop falling, gentle and pure—
on the petal of a wild rose, demure—
to trace its curves in a fleeting allure,

And then, let me swim in the boundless sea,
as a dolphin leaping playfully—
to taste the salt, to chase the tide,
a joyous dance in oceans I’ll abide.

Let me soar as a raven in flight,
carving my silhouette into the night—
to feel the wind beneath my wings,
and touch the stars as the cosmos sings

I want to be the wind beneath the stars,
touching the heavens, and then to Mars—
I want to move through space as light,
to race with comets, gleaming bright.

Let me reflect on Saturn’s dusty rings,
And wonder at all that timelessness brings.
Let me be the flower’s sweet scent,
the honeyed taste where the bee is sent—

the note that rings from a harp’s fine string,
the soft on a rabbit’s ear in spring.
I want to be the beat of a heart,
the glint in the eye when love starts—

he first cry a newborn makes,
a spark of life as the morning wakes.
I want to explore all there is to see,
forever bound to infinity—

Ever in light, never in shade,
a soul reborn, never to fade,
and when I am done with all there’s been,
through eternity, I’ll begin again.
